Well I was asked to research how other people in my field display there work. While researching I found that some have there work on there own websites like these examples.
www.adamdorman.com
www.cgmesh.com
The First one had a html setup while the other seem to use flash, whixh I found looked a lot better in my opinion. Also the first one I didn't see a demo reel while the second did and was easily noticeable. Some show there work on there site but also gave links to other art hosting sites.

This portfolio site was ok but the one he had on CGsociety look a lot more organized. It also had a network on it to other people so not only could he get a job but he could get someone else one as well. After looking at a couple of sites I looked to see what I could fined on youtube.com and there were a good amount of them. Just searching for "3D model" got a 1,000 results and just "3d reel" almost got 12,000 results. I tried "3D animation" to see if I get more or less and with over 9,000 results it was no contest. Although they had this on a place like youtube they did have links or atleast put there urls to there sites, here are some of the ones that caught my eye.

I also checked out Vimeo to see if I got more or less then youtube, and I didn't get as many but they look a lot more professional which was nice but I would think that some post in both, the more places you can display your work the better
